Guy Payet
A professional pilot and instructor since 2000, Guy Payet created one of the first helicopter flight schools in Réunion Island in 2003, to make helicopter pilot training accessible to as many people as possible on the island.
Over the past 15 years he has trained more than 45 pilots, some of whom went on to become professional pilots and instructors.

PPL(H): Private Pilot Licence Helicopter
The PPL(H) is the European private helicopter pilot licence. It allows you to fly privately, without remuneration, as pilot in command of the helicopters for which you hold the required ratings.
Whether your goal is to fly for pleasure, to travel or to prepare for a future professional career, the PPL(H) is the first major step of your journey as a pilot.
A complete training program
The training combines theoretical teaching and practical flight instruction.
You will gradually learn to master your helicopter: flight preparation, take-offs and landings, hovering, normal and emergency procedures, navigation, meteorology and decision making.
Regulations require a minimum of 45 hours of flight training, including dual instruction, supervised solo flights and navigation.
To obtain your PPL(H), you will need to:
- be at least 17 years old for the licence to be issued;
- hold a class 2 aeronautical medical certificate ;
- pass the theoretical examination;
- complete the required practical training;
- pass the final flight test with an examiner.
In Réunion Island, some navigation requirements call for specific planning, because of the shape of the island and the limited number of airfields.

The PPL(H) can be an end in itself for those who simply want to fly for the love of it.
But it can also be the start of a path toward becoming a professional pilot.
After your PPL(H), you can keep flying to gain experience and gradually build up your flight hours before entering a CPL(H): Commercial Pilot Licence Helicopter training program.
The CPL(H) then allows you to work professionally as a helicopter pilot and opens the door to the various careers in the sector: passenger transport, scenic flights, aerial work or other professional operations, depending on the ratings you go on to obtain.
